Here “IP” is code letters. First number is protection against solid objects. Second number is protection against liquids.

| Second Number | Description |
| 0 | No protection |
| 1 | Protected against vertically dripping water |
| 2 | Protected against 15° (angle from the vertical) dripping water |
| 3 | Protected against 60° (angle from the vertical) sprays of water |
| 4 | Protected against every direction of sprayed water |
| 5 | Protected against low pressure water jets from all directions (harmless amount permitted) |
| 6 | Protected against strong water jets from all directions (harmless amount permitted) |
| 7 | Temporary protected against immersion in water (water must not penetrate in harmfull quantity at described period) |
| 8 | Protected against under pressure, long periods of immersion in water |
