Here “IP” is code letters. First number is protection against solid objects. Second number is protection against liquids.

1Protected against vertically dripping water
2Protected against 15° (angle from the vertical) dripping water
3Protected against 60° (angle from the vertical) sprays of water
4Protected against every direction of sprayed water
5Protected against low pressure water jets from all directions (harmless amount permitted)
6Protected against strong water jets from all directions (harmless amount permitted)
7Temporary protected against immersion in water (water must not penetrate in harmfull quantity at described period)
8Protected against under pressure, long periods of immersion in water
